7 days in the seclusion of Cretan nature to learn and deepen one’s own practice. Petros, partially raised in Crete and deeply connected to the island, will teach for a week at one of the most beautiful places in Crete: Triopetra. Nature will be our greatest teacher here, providing a backdrop of warm summer days, vast beaches and beautiful sunsets from the shala’s terrace for the content of the retreat. Martyna, who has been teaching in Triopetra for many years herself, will contribute her knowledge and broad experience to this special week.
We will explore the many facets of Jivamukti Yoga: thematic explorations focusing on scriptures and philosophical approaches, content related to improving teaching skills, and of course, primarily deepening our practice and experiential understanding, which can only be revealed to us through practice. We will sing together, be in nature, meditate, breathe, find stillness, and of course, practice yoga.
We will address all three parts that, according to Patanjali, make up the practice of yoga: Tapas (the discipline of practice), Svadhyaya (self-study), and Ishvara Pranidhana (devotion).
Petros, who has been teaching for over 20 years and will share his broad knowledge passed down from his own teachers and self-study with us, is known for the seriousness of his teaching, which never fails to honor the moment thanks to playful joy, humor, and diverse musical accompaniment.
Martyna is deeply passionate about animal rights and political activism, which are an important part of her motivation and intellectual engagement with yoga. Her holistic perspective on yoga and practice is carried through her classes, which can be challenging yet never cease to support all students in a gentle manner. Martyna has been teaching at various Jivamukti Yoga schools and teacher trainings for many years and is one of the most well-known Jivamukti teachers. Petros and she have known each other for many years and have given retreats and taught together.
Normally, Petros teaches in his yoga schools or as a facilitator at Jivamukti teacher trainings, while Martyna lives and teaches in Berlin and is deeply rooteds in the Jivamukti community. This retreat is a rare opportunity to intensify time with a teacher and come closer to the teachings.
This module is aimed at yoga teachers and practitioners interested in deepening their practice. Participation can be credited as part of the Jivamukti Continuous Education Program but is not exclusively for Jivamukti teachers.

THE PLACE:
Nowadays, there are still a few places on earth that insistently deny to follow the stream of the modern civilisation and remain oases for those who seek for something different.
Triopetra is one of those places where time seems to have stopped!
You get to experience the archaic landscape, pure nature, the almost everpresent sun, etesian winds, the chirping of the cicadas and the soft, swooshing sound of the ocean.
This place of refuge is located on the south coast of Crete. The best Season lies between April and October where the highest Temperatures are reached between June and September.
The beach is just a few steps away from the Kretashala “Pavlos’ Place” and the guests can enjoy miles of unspoiled and deserted beaches, with turquoise, crystal-clear water in which you can swim and snorkel.
One is surrounded by Nature in its purest form that invites you to explore the healing powers of it.
The area around Triopetra is free from bars or noisy night life, which means that tranquility and quietness are guaranteed!
THE ACCOMMODATION:
Pavlos Place is located at the eastern part of Triopetra Beach. It is a modest Guesthouse with a family atmosphere and very comfortable rooms with own bathroom, shower, air conditioning and screen doors.
All rooms have a balcony with a view over the Libyan sea and the beach is a 2 minute walk away.
The yoga shala and terrace overlook the ocean and invite to watch the sunset.
Yogi, musician, dreamer, father, friend – above all, human, and attentive observer of all interconnected (yet superficially seemingly separate) principles, with a musical gift for playfully passing them on.
He teaches yoga asana, pranayama, meditation techniques, and bhakti yoga.
Petros is regularly invited to yoga festivals and is known as a guest teacher in numerous schools from various traditions and countries. He has trained hundreds of yoga teachers worldwide and has been organizing yoga retreats for over 15 years. In 2024, he taught the Jivamukti 300-hour teacher training in India.
Martyna lives and teaches in Berlin, conducting workshops and retreats worldwide.
Her greatest inspiration stems from the tireless animal rights and environmental activism of her teachers Sharon and David. It’s dear to her heart to convey loving and compassionate behavior towards all beings, and non-violence in thoughts, words, and actions as the highest priority of yoga practice. Martyna is closely connected to the Jivamukti scene and teaches at various Jivamukti schools and teacher trainings.
